Shattershield

Dan, you have in your possession a Shattershield.

It acts in all respects as a standard shield would, other than it is not made of metal. It has a medium magical aura.

Shattershields are Pyrrhic in nature, and when the command word is spoken the next weapon that strikes them is destroyed, along with the shield.

This destruction is automatic if the weapon is nonmagical or is magic of equal or lesser power than the shield, but more powerful weapons are granted resistance against the destruction. Even if the weapon remains intact, the Shattershield is broken.
